Three major relief features:
1. Plains — 43%
2. Mountains — 30%
3. Plateaus — 27%
1. Plains
- provide facilities for agriculture.
- provide facilities for industrial development.
- because of their level, nature, and ease of construction, plains support a huge population of the country.
2. Mountains
- ensure the perennial flow of some rivers and many rivers rise from them.
- provide facilities for tourism.
- are important from the ecological point of view, e.g. having a lot of forest wealth and wildlife.
3. Plateaus
- possess rich reserves of minerals.
- contain a lot of fossil fuels, especially coal.
- possess rich forest cover.
OR
India has a variety of relief features of land i.e., mountains, plateaus, plains, and islands.
- 43 percent of the land is plain. It is useful for agriculture and industry.
- 30 percent of the total land area is mountainous which ensures the perennial flow of some rivers. The mountains provide facilities for tourism and ecological aspects.
- 27 percent area is plateau region which possesses rich reserves of minerals, fossil fuels, and forests.
